Veteran’s Legacy Woods Cold Water Stream Restoration

This site was located within the Veteran’s Legacy Woods park that was a former golf course from the 1980s to 2018 with the objective to restore streams, floodplain, and riparian habitat to improve water quality for the Cuyahoga River West Branch and the Cuyahoga River Watershed. RiverReach’s design build team restored warm water habitat for Tributaries 8 and 13 to restore/create a new CWH on Tributary 14 that will serve as a candidate for State Endangered native Ohio Brook Trout.

Project Goals

This site had four projects goals to achieve. Achieve full attainment of cold-water habitat (CWH) within the newly created CWH stream at Tributary 14. Achieve partial attainment of the warm water habitat (WWH) headwater stream at the project site (Tributary 8). Maintain Class III HHEI habitat status for the WWH primary headwater stream at the project site (Tributary 13). Improve riparian habitat surrounding Tributary 13 and Tributary 14.
