Stabilization and Restoration of Pepper Creek Bank
Pepper Creek drains approximately 1.47 square miles at the project site of primarily residential communities west of I-271 and north of Chagrin Boulevard. The project area is within private residential properties extending for a minimum of 800-ft. downstream of Shaker Boulevard. The project stems from noticeable erosion, streambed instability and a deteriorating gabion wall. One of the residential properties is extremely close (i.e. 13-ft.) to the stream. Based on the stream alignment and presence of gabion wall, it appears the subject reach was significantly modified to accommodate the construction of the Shaker Boulevard Bridge and residential home sites.
Multiple Goal Project
The goals of the Pepper Creek project area are to stabilize the stream bank, manage the urban hydrology, reduce stream energy, and protect adjacent infrastructure.
